Ekiti Guber: APC Will Meet Its Waterloo In June 2018, Says Council Chief

The Councilor representing Ayetoro ward two in In Ido/Osi Local Government legislative Council of Ekit State, Mr. Seun Owoola on Friday boasted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will fail in its attempt to recapture the State in the governorship election slated for June 23rd 2018.

Speaking to News Men on Friday after worshiping with Muslim faithful in his Ayetoro-Ekiti community to celebrate Sallah, Owoola who is the Chairman of the council house committee on health said the people of Ekiti will not allow what bedevilled them during the reign of immediate past Governor of the state and current Minister of Steels and Mineral Resources, Dr. Kayode Fayemi to befall them again.

He blamed the inability of the state Governor, Ayo Fayose to pay workers salaries regularly on several bank loans and N32bn bond obtained by Fayemi, stating despite the drop in allocation from Abuja to states, about N1billion is deducted monthly from Ekiti State statutory allocation for loan servicing and repayment.

“APC will not be allowed to smell Oke Bareke government House for now. Ekiti people have not recovered from their ordeal in the hands of Fayemi. The loans Fayemi took when he was Governor are largely responsible for irregular of payment of workers salary today.

“N913million is deducted monthly from the source out of our monthly allocation from federation account to service and repay the loans obtained by Fayemi from various banks and the N32bn bond he took from the capital market.

“The testimony from witnesses who had testified at the ongoing Judicial Commission of Enquiry probing how Fayemi spent some of our funds when he superintended over our patrimony is a point of reference.

“You can imagine a governor giving an oral order to a firm to supply 236 vehicles without passing through the state Tender Board? Today, N400m has been said to have been expended on the construction of new Governor’s office in Ekiti State whereas there’s no governor office anywhere.

The council chief said majority of the people of the State are solidly behind Fayose to hand over to a worthy successor, stressing that the performance of the APC led central government is another reason why the people of the state will not vote for the party candidate in 2018.

“Are you telling me we should vote for APC to compensate them for increasing a litre of petrol from N87 to N145 thereby increasing the expenditures of the common people and killing many Small and media scale enterprises? He asked rhetorically.

Fayose Cautions FG Over Plan To Make Hate Speech Treasonable, Says; It Is Plot To Silence Opposition

Ekiti Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has cautioned the federal government over its categorisation of hate speeches to act of terrorism, “This appears as another plot to silence the opposition and I make bold to say that saying the truth concerning the country and its rulers cannot be termed as hate speech.”

The governor, who accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the number one promoter and beneficiary of hate speeches in the country, noted that; “When the APC was looking for power, several provocative statements were made.  Nigerians are yet to forget President Muhammadu Buhari’s ‘the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood’ hate speeches and the threat by the APC to form a parallel government.”
In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Friday, by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose, who said he was totally against hate speech and will support any effort to curb it, added that it was important to caution the federal government on the danger inherent in the blanket categorisation of hate speech as treasonable.
He said “even if the APC government is sincere with its new found hatred for hate speeches, the APC government must first apologise to Nigerians for being the number one promoter and beneficiary of hate speech.”
The governor counselled that rather than blanket criminalising of hate speeches, the federal government should embark on reorientation of Nigerians, especially the youths on the consequences of hate speeches to the unity of the country and restore the confidence of the people in the government.
The statement read; “I wish to express concern over the pronouncement of the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo that hate speech will henceforth be treated as terrorism.
“While I am totally against hate speech and will support any effort to curb it, it is important to caution the federal government on the danger inherent in the blanket categorisation of hate speech as treasonable.
“I make bold to say that saying the truth concerning the country and its rulers cannot be termed as hate speech.
“I only hope Nigeria is not being systematically returned to the colonial days when the law of sedition was used to jail many of those who fought for our independence or the era of Buhari’s military regime when the notorious Public Officers (Protection against False accusation) Decree 4 of 1984 was used to jailTunde Thompson and NdukaIrabor, both of The Guardian newspapers for publishing what the government termed as false.
“Most importantly, going by the APC government’s use of the so-called anti-corruption fight to harass, intimidate, arrest and detain opposition figures, there is no doubt that categorising whatever that is termed as hate speech as act of terrorism is unconstitutional and an attempt to gag Nigerians, especially the press.
“It should therefore not be seen that since the use of corruption to harass, arrest and detain opposition figures is no longer fashionable, hate speech will now be another instrument of oppression to be used against opposition.
“The questions that must be answered by the federal government are; what constitutes hate speech andwho determines it? Has the Presidency becomes law unto itself such that it is now the one to determine what is an offense and what punishment to be applied?
“From all intent and purposes, the Acting President pronouncement which is obviously not backed by any legislation is an attempt to provide reasons for an impending clampdown on opposition and Nigerians will resist any attempt to mortgage their fundamental rights to freedom of expression under the guise of hate speeches.
“When the APC was looking for power, several provocative statements were made.

Nigerians are yet to forget President Buhari’s “the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood” hate speeches and the threat by the APC to form a parallel government.
“What can be more treasonable than these statements made by President Buhari and his party?
“It is also on record that during the 2011 election campaign, President Buhari’s inciting statement led to widespread violence by his supporters in the North after he lost. Over 1000 people were slaughtered in cold blood, including innocent National Youth Service Corp members.
“Therefore, even if the APC government is sincere with its new found hatred for hate speeches, the APC government must first apologise to Nigerians for being the number one promoter and beneficiary of hate speech.
“Also, rather than this blanket criminalising of hate speeches, the federal government should embark on reorientation of Nigerians, especially the youths on the consequences of hate speeches to the unity of the country while the confidence of the people in the government (at all levels) must be restored.”

2019: PDP Will Rescue Nigerians From Dullards In Aso Rock -FFK

The former Minister of Aviation and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Femi Fani Kayode has vowed that the party will put an end to the reign of those he described as bunch of dullards in the Aso Rock under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) come 2019.
Reacting to the statement that PDP will never recover by APC, Fani Kayode said the party is back to change the change and rescue Nigerians from the hands of the tyrant who knows nothing about good governance.

In a tweet on Monday, Fani Kayode said,”The message is simple and clear:PDP is back and we will change the change. We hereby serve the APC notice:pack your bags and GO!”

Group Declares Support For Fayose’s Continuity, Says Tiwa N’ Tiwa Remains In PDP

Professional group in Ekiti State under the aegis of Tiwa N’ Tiwa Unity Forum and an affiliate of Osoko Mass Movement (OMM), has lauded the series of achievements recorded by Gov. Ayodele Fayose in the past two years, assuring the people that only the continuity in the achievements of the governor can surely sustain development in the state.

The group said her support for the Fayose led administration and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state remains unflinching, adding that her members have not defected to any mega party and those using the slogan of the group in the mega party were warned to desist from such act.

This was contained in a statement jointly issued by the State Coordinator and Publicity Secretary of the group, Mr Charles Olusola and Comrade Adedayo Adeleke respectively over the weekend in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

Olusola, who applauded the giant strides of the Mr Governor, said the group cannot but appreciate the fact that Gov. Fayose has brought about series of developmental changes in the state, adding that only those who play politics of calumny with everything the governor does will not give credence to his leadership style.

“Ayodele Fayose that we all know remains our person and our man, meaning (Tiwa N’ Tiwa) in Yoruba paraphrase. We have waited so long to have someone of his spirit and courage. He remains the brain behind every face lifting transformation the state had recorded so far.

“As a group, the sole interest of this state matters to us and that had formed the basis why we have been working hand in hand with the sociopolitical group called Osoko Mass Movement (OMM) in promulgating the achievements of our indefatigable and ebullient leader par excellence, Gov. Ayodele Fayose.

“We are of the opinion that the good work of the Mr governor should continue beyond 2018 and that can only be possible when we all come together as a people to support and encourage him to do more, both for us in Ekiti and Nigeria at large.

“Ekiti as a developing state cannot afford to take ten steps forward and twenty steps backward all in the name of change; the change which has not only failed hopeless Nigerians at the national level since inception but had sometimes in the immediate past government of Dr Kayode Fayemi mortgaged the future of this state with unprecedented indebtedness,” Olusola said.

The group promised to continue encouraging Governor Fayose to do more in Ekiti, saying returning to the days of wicked competency test, unlawful downgrading of both primary and secondary school teachers, daily retrenchment and the likes is what the state cannot afford at this crucial time. Hence, her support for the governor remains E-stanby.

“E-Stanby is the slang. Wherever Gov. Fayose goes, we shall follow as far as Ekiti development is concerned. We should ensure the sustainability of the series of  achievements recorded under this Fayose-led administration,” Olusola advised Ekiti people.

Adekola Rejoices With Fayose Over Makarfi’s Victory, Says Democracy Has Won

“Our democracy has finally come to stay and it has won, as the Supreme Court gave verdict in favour of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi led National Caretaker Committee. Nigerians should also rejoice because the succour to the present hardship has come,” Hon. Segun Adekola rejoiced in a phone conversation.

Adekola, The Chairman, House Committee on Youth Development and Lawmaker representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency 1 in the House of Representatives, who rejoiced with the Ekiti State Governor and Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Governors Forum, Mr Ayodele Fayose on the victory which he tagged as “condign” for the Makarfi faction of the party, said his tenure as Chairman PDP Governors Forum has undoubtedly recorded monumental victories in the history of the party.
“Today is like another June 21 in the history of sustainable democracy in Ekiti, when the anticipated victory songs and dances cannot be checkmated but rented the air. The day our democracy and good governance obviously regained freedom in Ekiti State.
“Gov. Fayose and the likes of other party faithfuls have fought a good battle to keep our party viable till this moment. As the opposition leader, Fayose’s leadership style has not given room for cowardice but has always put the ruling party on its toes to fulfil electoral promises to Nigerians since he emerged the chairman of all the PDP governors.
“I rejoice with him today and the entire members of our party, the PDP. The judgement has not only resuscitated our party to play its role as the major opposition, it has equally given us a chance to settle differences and close rank with one another to fight a common cause under the same umbrella as one big family.
“Apparently, we are rejoicing over a victory well deserved, but at the same time we should not forget that there is neither victor nor vanquished in this type of political battle. Hence, we should only rejoice that our democracy has finally come to stay, as we prepare to unseat the All Progressive Congress (APC) comes 2019,” he admonished.
The federal lawmaker said the repeat of  leadership tussle which has legitimately ended in the Supreme Court on Wednesday should not be allowed to divide the party against itself any longer, saying the major task now should be strategy on how to return to power by 2019.
He expressed strong hope and trust in the present judiciary, saying “Nigerians can now rely on our judiciary as the only hope for the hopeless.”

After Biafra, Oduduwa Republic Will Be Next -Fani-Kayode
